Abstract

Background: Compulsivity can be viewed physiologically as a failure to appropriately regulate, interrupt, or updateactions once they become maladaptive. Contemporary models of obsessive-compulsive disorder increasingly emphasize dysfunction within cortico-striato-thalamo-cortical networks together with altered interactions among serotonin,dopamine, glutamate, and plasticity-related signaling systems
