Background: Antimicrobial-resistant urinary tract infection (UTI) is increasingly common, and adults with diabetesfrequently carry clinical characteristics associated with resistant uropathogens. Diabetes itself, however, is oftenconfounded by prior antibiotics, hospitalization, urinary devices, recurrent infection, renal impairment, and altered pathogen distribution
