Abstract

his study examines the French colonial policy of exile and deportation through the case of therevolutionaries of the 1871 uprising led by Bash Agha al-Muqrani and Sheikh al-Haddad. The transformation of the French political system from military administration to civilian rule in Algeriacontributed to the dismantling of traditional local leadership structures
